Tools Used to complete this Job.

18mm Ring spanner or 11/16 if you do not have metric
18mm 1/2 Socket
2 short Extention Bars
Rachet
1 Drive Punch
2 Trolly Jacks 
Ramps
2 Axel Stands
22mm Socket to remove lower shock absorber mounting bolt.


Process Walkthrough



Safety

Make sure you have Axle Stands to ensue if anything slips, the car lands on them not you.


Drive car up ramps and chock front wheels.
Identify fixings total 6 fixing nuts in rear boot, 2 under sub frame on rear mounts, 2 large 22mm nuts for
the rear shock absorber, 13mm for handbrake cable support.
Spray releasing fluid on all rusty fixings ( Plus Gas )
Jack Up both sided if the car allowing the wheels to be removed but leave ramps in pace
Remove both wheels
Place wooden blocks on top of ramp just under the drum.
Remove small m13 retaining bolt from handbrake cable retaining bracket
remove spring from brake compensator valve if your car is fitted with one, Clearance only.
Remove shock absorber lower mount pin. ( drum should drop down slightly onto wooden block )
undo single mounting nut on rear mount under sub frame, both sides
Detach metal brake pipes from plastic clips on car under body as the sub frame will want to drop
down
Remove 6 retaining bolts in rear boot area.
The rear beam is now detached from the main fixings
Use trolley tacks to adjust the height of the car to remove old bushes and replace the new ones.
Look at alignment of studs and holes, Pull push and wiggle a little and it will all pop in.
Fitment is the rear shock absorber mount. Lower car body down.
When the drums press against the blocks of wood the suspension is compresses enough to allow fit.
You need the wheels off to remove the bolt and refit.
Do this last step correctly it is easy, do it wrong and it’s a real pain!

306 Replace Rear Sub Frame Mounts on Rear Axle

Today my Son's car failed the MOT for play in the metalastic
bushes that mount the rear Axle sub frame to the car.

I removed all four bushes from the rear sub frame and have placed an order for
replacement materials from the internet.

I will be adding pictures as I work through the job to aid reference points
