ABS Fault Not Functioning
ABS DIY Fix
For some time now i have been getting an error on the screen " ABS Fault" ABS Disabled. Also Traction Control Disabled.
6 Months ago after a previous encounter with an ABS Fault I destinctly remember walking out of Peugeot "Stafford" holding a printed piece of paper that looked plain and simple with one line of text on it that said Front Off Side ABS Sensor Fault.
I only got this print out as i actually asked for it.
So i walked out of Peugeot with this piece of paper Cost £60 and 1 front ABS Sensor that cost £45 I made a Desision.
To Purchase some hardware to allow me to plug my Peugeot into my Laptop and find the errors myself and reset engine management lights Etc.
Recently My car developed another ABS fault so I plugged my Laptop into the car and found the Rear ABS Sensor to be faulty.
Mistake 1
I purchased a Cheep sensor from Ebay £12 made in China
Rubbish the error was worce, i had an error as soon as i turned on the ignition now so i removed the sensor and looked back on ebay for a genuine peugeot one. Found somone selling a Pair and managed to purchase them both for £27
Mistake 2
Fitted both new ABS sensors on the rear of the car put wheels back on reset seeors on CAR ECU and drove up road 100 yards Back on same fault.
Ok time to stop and do more net research for other fault causes
The gap between the hub and sensor was referenced a number of times and rust in the mounting face, so next morning wipped off both wheels and sensors again. The gap was about 3mm on my car and the sensor was not paralell to the Hub Sensor.
Did a lot of Rust scraping of the sensor mounting serfice, spraying with Plusgass, Wd40 and Brake clening fluid for the final clean.
I Then remounted the sensors on both sides and measured the gap between the sensors and the hub with feeler gauges and they came out to be 0.8mm
All My ABS Faults have now gone and my and my car is fault free again.
Until Next Time .............
