First off the GHD Straighteners. The first pair we purchased cost about £90 ( 4 Years Ago ). The wire quickly became damaged by the swivel point but they worked well for about 2 years.
The main fault was that the wire from the PCB to the hot plate became dethatched and they would stop from heating up. I re-soldered this wire a number of times with silver solder to cope with the heat the hot pad reached as STD solder just melted and did not work.
This worked for a further 6 months until we decided to invest in a new v4 pair.
What a mistake. What have GHD done to the design, My wife can not put her fnger on it but she is sure they do not feel or work as well as the old ones she previously purchased.
I even tested the temperature the heat plates reached between the new and old ones just in case they were not getting as hot. But the results showed the new ones got approx 10 Deg hotter than the olds ones.
So we were disappointed in the new GHD Straightners.
She was that disapointed in the results she was getting from the GHDs she desided to purchase another make. Babyliss Pro 230 Elegance Straightener 2098BU
Currently £40 from Argos
She has had them now for 3 months and has commented that she is getting far better results that the new v4 GHD Straightners and even as good as the Original GHDs she purchased in the first place.
Well done Babyliss for producing a Quality product for £40 retail.
I would recommend the Babyliss Pro 230 Elegance Straightener 2098BU
From my wife’s personal experience.
