Well after a number of years of DIY maintaining and servicing my 2003 Peugeot 307 HDI, I would like to pass on my knowledge and findings so you can save time and possibly money.
Now over the past 3 months my car has suffered form a intermittent power loss from the turbo boost.
My personal experience was as follows
Turbo boost usually comes in at about 1600 rpm on my car
In first and second gear, you could feel the boost but did not feel as strong as it should be.
Third Gear was very flat may come in at 2500 rpm or sometimes not at all.
Forth gear better pull boost came in at about 2000 rpm
In my experience this has been caused by the two following areas.
Fault 1
The ( ERG ) Electro Valve that supplies controlled vacuum pressure to the turbo to control the waste gate becomes faulty. This valve can stick and not give a smooth control of the turbo.
Even though these units are sealed, You can strip these units and service them using WD40 or electrical cleaning spray. I would personally recommend purchasing a new one though long term. Please see pictures for detail and visual aid http://wbs.electricjungle.org/1628zt.html
Fault 2
Partial blockage of the Particulate Filter. What this does is generates a back pressure on the exhaust system against the engine. Now this is not enough to create a "Anti Pollution Fault, But it is enough to affect the engine ECU controlling the Electro Valve Turbo Pressure.
If you believe the particulate filter may be your problem you have 3 options,
1. force a manual regeneration cycle by driving the car at set speed.
2 Manually remove the particulate filter and wash it out. Works well but about a four hour job on the drive
3. If you have access to PP2000 software and hardware you can run a forced regeneration cycle through the software,
I Hope you found some of this information useful to you.
Best regards
